Save more
Pay less for gas, without overthinking it.
The fastest way to save is to pick the right station. The second is to burn less. Here's what actually works, no gadgets.
The basics
Eight habits that make a difference
Nothing magic, no gizmo to plug into your engine. Just simple habits we use ourselves.
-
Compare before you leave
Prices vary from one station to the next, even in the same neighbourhood. Open Gazo before you head out, not once the warning light is on.
-
Don't wait for an empty tank
When the needle is in the red, you stop at the first station you see, whatever its price. Fill up when you pass a station that ranks well in the list.
-
Use the right fuel
If your owner's manual recommends regular, premium gives you nothing extra. Save it for engines that require it.
-
Watch your tire pressure
Under-inflated tires push consumption up. Check them once a month, cold, against the pressure on the sticker in the door frame.
-
Drive smoothly
Hard acceleration and last-second braking cost gas. Anticipate the lights and let the car roll.
-
Ease off on the highway
Air resistance climbs quickly with speed. Driving a little slower often does more than any trick.
-
Travel light
An empty roof box or a trunk full of stuff you don't need costs you every kilometre. Take out what you don't use.
-
Turn the engine off when parked
An idling engine burns fuel without moving you an inch. Many municipalities also regulate idling.

Credit cards with gas cash back, loyalty programs, car insurance quotes: offers picked for drivers, the same as in the app's “Save more” section.
